Losing a loved one is one of the most painful things we experience as humans, and death can be a source of great suffering for those left behind. Healing from grief is a process and requires patience, mindfulness, resilience and support. This 1.5 hour intimate and interactive workshop is an opportunity to work through grief and sadness in a safe space and to find meaning and gratitude through your loss. The workshop will be led by experienced facilitator Alona Shaked (bio below) and will include guided writing and meditation prompts as well as time for discussion.

This workshop is open to anyone who is experiencing grief or suffering as the result of the death of a loved one.

About the facilitator

Alona Shaked is a former lawyer, non-profit founder and executive. She is also a breast cancer survivor and fertility warrior, author, and public speaker. In 2017, she founded Thrivacious, an international non-profit dedicated to supporting women touched by cancer. Thrivacious has served hundreds of women and has hosted dozens of workshops and several retreats. While taking a sabbatical from non-profit management in order to go through fertility treatments and build my family, Alona trained as a coach and has now helped dozens of clients across the globe thrive through life’s challenges, succeed and grow in their careers, and build fulfilling, values-driven personal lives. Alona received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and J.D. from UCLA School of Law. She now lives in Philadelphia, PA with husband Oren, Labradoodle Franklin and new baby Ella.

Alona has facilitated multiple workshops on coping with loss and authored an e-Book From Cancer to Coronavirus on how to cope with loss during the pandemic. The inspiration for this particular workshop, which is specifically for those who have experienced death of a loved one, is the recent death of Alona’s dear friend Maya, who passed away at the age of 35 from metastatic breast cancer. Maya was a kind, generous, and loving soul who loved flowers, good food, and great friends. It is Alona’s hope that the healing generated by this workshop and any donations made by those who attend will honor Maya’s memory.
